In order to develop the architectural culture in Sri Lanka, we have launched the ARCHITECTURE BOOK BRIDGE Sri Lanka project, which donates books to architecture students in Sri Lanka.
Would you be so kind as to donate even just one or two interesting architecture books or magazines from your bookshelf to the future of Sri Lankan architecture?
Although Sri Lanka is an English-speaking country, Japanese books with lots of photographs and illustrations are welcome!
I think that people in the architecture industry and design offices in Japan have a lot of books.
Isn't it true that there are times when you end up buying duplicates of good books or receiving duplicates as gifts?
The donation will be made to the Department of Architecture at the University of Moratuwa, a national university in Sri Lanka.
We approached architect Nobuaki Furuya, who retired from Waseda University this year and became an honorary fellow of the university, about the project, and he gladly accepted.
In early spring, when it was still chilly, I headed to the nostalgic Waseda University Science and Engineering Campus.
I happened to drop by when Mr. Furuya was making final arrangements in his laboratory before retiring, and he kindly donated a collection of his works up to that point, as well as a treasured collection of photographs and drawings of works by Tadao Ando of GA ARCHITECTURE, to the students in Sri Lanka.
Thank you so much!!! 👏
